This is a great example of macrotia, or ear reduction surgery. This patient was bothered by the fact his ears were just too large for his taste. I performed a standard scapha ear reduction surgery on him to reduce the upper portion of the auricle – thus giving him an overall smaller ear. If you look closely at these photos, you can also appreciate how the shape of the upper ear is improved – less ‘pointed’ and now with a more gentle arching curve. I happen to be one of the few surgeons in the country at this time that offers this surgery and has performed macrotia scapha ear reduction on a regular basis.
